- Quote is ready and Cox confirmed fiber at the street.
- The router certified by Cisco handling up to 12 Mb of sustained traffic is the 2821 - (further discussion should continue with our consultants)

Planning, Design WAN connection to North Campus- Current routers are not adequate
- Possible strategy to replace main campus edge router and upgrade while shifting current edge router to North
- Least amount of capital would be used yet the widest disruption/impact to campus service would be experienced
- It was agreed that the WAN design should be run by our consultant and quality of service should be considered for VOIP applications
- Susan Bedker needs to be involved when looking at sizing and planning for a new provisioned circuit
- Timing and sequencing will be a problem for Spring Break - need to look at alternate times -
- Will the VOIP licensing be ready by Spring Break?
- Patch cables are on their way
- Calence is ready to start the prep work this Monday
- The plan remains the same - Calence understands GCC will be open for business Saturday and Sunday

GCC Network Upgrade Schedule, Josh and Patrick- Patrick and I are clearing rack space for the new hardware and labeling our patch cable connections. Once this step is complete we will mount the new hardware and power it up. Our goal for completion on this project is Friday February 3rd.
- We will meet with Calence representatives (Jonathan and Tyrone) on Monday February 13th and begin preparation for the core switch cut-over on Saturday evening.
- Downtime will start at 8:00 pm on Saturday February 18th and the connection to district will be broken. Depending on configuration changes, the connection to district should be restored by 12:00 am, but we will reserve time until 6 am Sunday morning as potential downtime for the WAN connection to district.
- Backup plan: If the core cut-over is not successful, Patrick and I are prepared to restore the original configurations to our current 6509 so GCC can resume business operations on Sunday.
- Time extension plan: If by some other malfunction, we cannot complete the cut-over to district on Saturday evening, we will make another attempt starting at the close of business on Sunday evening (5 pm) and work until the cut-over is complete. If this scenario is put into action, I will notify KC and Rich by email and/or phone by the start of business Sunday morning so they can update the campus as necessary.
- Backup plan: If the core cut-over is not successful, Patrick and I are prepared to restore the original configurations to our current 6509 so GCC can resume business operations on Sunday.
- If and only if operation number 3 is completed on Saturday night, we will start the cut-over for the edge switches in HT1, HT2, and EC on Sunday night beginning at 5 pm. This phase will only interrupt network communications for each building and will not affect internet connectivity, Vax communications, GCC hosted on-line material, or student/faculty server space. Full network functionality is expected to be restored by 6 am Monday morning.
- Monday will be a test day for employees in OIT that have been picked by KC, Patrick, Rich, Dorene, or I. Patrick and I will compose a testing procedure by this Friday outlining the steps necessary to ensure network reliability for the start of business on Tuesday morning.
Important note: The institute i.e. Mary Trudeau, will need to be informed of our timetable because the John Deere training facility will be open on Monday and will presumably need networking for their course work. Another possibility is the General Motors lab (T3) which sometimes holds classes on holidays.
